The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca has announced a partnership with the British organisation The Donkey Sanctuary, which launched the GEKEC (Global Equine and Knowledge Education Centre) project, through which students and veterinary surgeons in Romania have access to a comprehensive, structured and evidence-based curriculum dedicated exclusively to donkeys.<\/p>\n
The project is being implemented by USAMV Cluj-Napoca, led by Associate Professor Dr Alexandra Nicoleta Mure\u0219an from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, who is Romania\u2019s first ECEIM (European College of Equine Internal Medicine) Diplomat. <\/p>\n
Through the GEKEC project, 31 students from all study programmes (Romanian, English, French) are already attending the courses, which cover four key areas: donkey behaviour and welfare, clinical examination, hoof care and dentistry. Each course is organised into progressive modules, ranging from the basics to complex clinical scenarios.<\/p>\n
ECEIM Congress, at USAMV Cluj-Napoca, for the first time<\/p>\n
In October, USAMV Cluj-Napoca will host the Congress of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM), and The Donkey Sanctuary will be an active partner in the event. British specialists in donkey medicine will deliver a lecture as part of the main programme, lead a workshop for ECEIM residents and take part in Specialists\u2019 Day \u2013 a clear sign that donkey medicine has earned its place within the highest forum of the European equine medical speciality.<\/p>\n
