The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca, through its Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, is organising the successful annual event Spay Day – the free dog and cat neutering marathon.

On Friday, 10 July 2026, from 8.00 am, dozens of the faculty’s graduates, alongside supervising teaching staff, will carry out the scheduled sterilisation procedures at the faculty’s clinics.

This annual community campaign, organised by USAMV Cluj-Napoca in this format since 2018, is primarily aimed at pet owners with limited financial means, as well as stray animals.

Registrations will be taken by telephone on 0736709228, starting on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, at 9.00 am, subject to a limit of approximately 50 available places, and the surgical procedures will be carried out in the order of the lists drawn up.

“Controlling the dog and cat population through neutering is the most humane way to prevent abandonment. The benefits of this medical procedure are clear for both the animals and the community: it eliminates the risk of unwanted litters, prevents serious reproductive diseases, reduces aggressive behaviour and gives animals a longer and healthier life. Spay Day is also an extraordinary experience for our graduates, who will then begin their careers with participation in this successful community campaign on their CVs,” explained Associate Professor Dr Cosmin Peștean, coordinator of the Spay Day campaign.

Pet owners who register are asked not to feed their cats and dogs for at least 12 hours before their sterilisation appointment.

Dozens of graduates from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, across all three teaching programmes – Romanian, English and French – will be involved in the Spay Day Marathon. They will be joined by teaching staff, vets and veterinary technicians from all specialisms, from Reception right through to the Operating Room.

The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca, through its Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, is organising the successful annual event Spay Day – the free dog and cat neutering marathon.
[3

post-2766","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-evenimente
["GET
