The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Cluj-Napoca, invites the Cluj community to Agri-Food Week 2026, an event dedicated to agriculture, food, traditions, innovation and sustainability.<\/p>\n
Agri-Food Week (22\u201326 September 2026) offers activities that bring together local producers, researchers, students, partners and members of the community, in an initiative designed to connect people with local produce and the stories of those who create it.<\/p>\n
The centrepiece of the programme for the general public is the exhibition and sale of local produce, taking place from 24\u201326 September 2026 (10.00\u201318.00), on the esplanade in front of the \u2018Mihai \u0218erban\u2019 Magna Auditorium. The Cluj community can look forward to pickles, zacusca, jams, compotes, syrups, gingerbread, honey, cheeses, vegetables, potted herbs, Kurtos Colacs, stone-baked pies and much more.<\/p>\n
Handicrafts will also be available, alongside wines produced at the university\u2019s Vinea Apoldia Maior estate.<\/p>\n
USAMV Cluj-Napoca is part of the EU-GIFT Alliance (European University for Geographical Identity as a driver for Food) and, together, they aim to create a space for direct interaction between producers and consumers, where local products, traditions and experiences can be brought closer to the public.<\/p>\n
Agri-Food Week 2026 forms part of a broader vision for the future of food systems, in which local identity, tradition, research, innovation and sustainability are essential elements. In this context, EU-GIFT brings a European dimension to the initiative, promoting links between universities, communities, producers and regions, and supporting the development of more sustainable food systems.<\/p>\n
For USAMV Cluj-Napoca, this approach means linking academic expertise and research with the realities of the community, as well as promoting the products and traditions that contribute to local identity. Agri-Food Week thus becomes a meeting point between tradition and innovation, between knowledge passed down from generation to generation and solutions for the agriculture and food of the future.<\/p>\n
