Prof. Dr Andrei D. Mihalca, from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at USAMV Cluj-Napoca, received the \u201cMarie-Pierre Ryser-Degiorgis\u201d Excellence in Wildlife Health Award 2026, at the 16th Conference of the European Wildlife Disease Association (EWDA).<\/p>\n
Awarded every two years, the prize is one of the EWDA\u2019s most prestigious honours, recognising excellence and outstanding contributions in the field of wildlife health.<\/p>\n
The award was presented to Prof. Dr Mihalca for his scientific contributions to the field of wildlife health, as well as for his role in promoting and developing wildlife medicine in Eastern Europe through research, education, the training of new generations of specialists and the development of international collaborations.<\/p>\n
His work integrates wildlife medicine, parasitology, vector-borne diseases and the One Health approach, combining fundamental and applied research with fieldwork and biodiversity conservation.<\/p>\n
The award is named after Prof. Marie-Pierre Ryser-Degiorgis, a leading figure in the field of wildlife health and within the European Wildlife Disease Association.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Prof. Dr Andrei D.
