“European Veterinary Food Safety Teachers Meeting” at USAMV Cluj-Napoca!

We were delighted to host the 10th European Veterinary Food Safety Teachers Meeting on 4-5 September 2023 at the Biodiversity Research Centre.
Organised by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of our university, the event brought together 14 teachers from faculties in Germany, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands and Romania who teach Food Hygiene, Food Safety and Veterinary Public Health.Among the topics discussed during the meeting: the strategy on the role of veterinary hygienists in food safety; sustainable development and global animal population reduction; updating the European Catalogue on how to teach food hygiene in faculties; further collaboration between teachers on teaching-learning methods and student assessment.
“The idea has emerged that veterinarians in the field of food hygiene and safety are a professional category with a particularly important role in society, to protect public health, and our faculties must adapt their curricula to the new challenges posed by climate change, sustainable development in agriculture, new food sources, different food habits and practices”, is the conclusion of the meeting.
