Iulius Mall Cluj-Napoca nursery, with over 600 trees, hosted by the Horticultural Research Station – USAMV Cluj-Napoca!

More than 600 trees are acclimatizing in the Iulius Mall nursery, hosted by our research station, being prepared for a new park dedicated to the entire community of Cluj. Plane trees, linden trees, chestnut trees, red maples, pyramidal oaks, ginkgo biloba, hornbeams and metasequoia, with heights already reaching up to 13 metres, as well as more than 100,000 plants of various sizes will create a real spectacle in the future green areas of the proposed project for the conversion of the Carbochim platform.

“This is a new approach for us too, including the technology. We are a learning platform, with students from different study programmes such as Horticulture or Landscape Architecture practicing on a daily basis, and the fact that they have the opportunity to follow and get to know this approach, which involves very large trees and an advanced technological process, is a unique opportunity. I don’t know of similar transplanting work of this scale having been carried out in our area. So I think this is a very commendable initiative, because in the end it will result in a turnkey park, where we will be able to enjoy these special plants at the very moment of their establishment,” said biologist Lukács Lehel, director of the USAMV Cluj-Napoca station.
