The Senate of USAMV Cluj-Napoca validated the election of Prof. Dr. Cornel Cătoi as rector for the 2024-2029 term of office in the meeting of 7 February 2024.

The Senate of our university, meeting today, 7 February 2024, at the Institute of Life Sciences “King Michael I of Romania”, approved the report of the Electoral Bureau (BEU) on the process of election of the rector and validated the result expressed by direct, equal and secret vote on 1 February 2024, as a result of which Prof. Dr. Cornel Cătoi was elected by the academic community as rector of USAMV Cluj-Napoca.

Prof. Cornel Cătoi received 192 votes compared to 161 for his opponent, Prof. Leon Muntean, i.e. 53% of the votes cast (11 votes were canceled).

Prof. Dr. Cornel Cătoi is to be confirmed as rector by order of the Minister of Education within 30 days of the election date.

Also, following the elections of 29 January 2024, for the term 2024-2029, the position of President of the Senate was awarded to Prof. Dan C. Vodnar, and the new Student Prefect is Paul Bota.
