USAMV Cluj-Napoca, awarded with the Royal Decoration “Nihil Sine Deo” at Peles Castle

Our University was honoured to receive the Royal Decoration “Nihil Sine Deo” from the Royal House of Romania at a ceremony hosted by Peles Castle on 11 March. The award was presented to the Rector of USAMV Cluj-Napoca, Prof. Dr. Cornel Cătoi, by HRH Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown.
Motivation for the awarding of the decoration: “To honour the plethora of personalities of the natural sciences in Romania who have followed one another in its departments and benches, but also to recognise the high level of university education in agricultural and veterinary sciences that the
University offers today to students at European level. For the generosity with which, together with my House, the University, through its management, has offered its expertise and active participation in the restoration and revival of the Royal Estates open to the public, and in keeping alive the
horticultural and fruit-growing traditions begun centuries ago at Săvârșin and Peleș”.
The Royal Decoration “Nihil Sine Deo” was instituted on 30 December 2009, by order of His Majesty King Michael I, Sovereign of the Royal House of Romania. Its regulation was amended on 30 December 2017, by decree of Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, and the distinction can be awarded to outstanding personalities in the social, scientific, educational, cultural, spiritual, economic, political and military fields who have reached a respectable number of years in the profession or have achieved a high level of performance, have had an outstanding initiative, have shown generosity and spirit of responsibility, have used the power of personal example to enrich the Romanian present. The Royal Decoration faithfully respects the distinctions created by the founder of the Royal House and the modern Romanian State, Carol I. At the same time, it is a symbol of the Royal House’s historical vitality, continuity, tradition and legitimacy, states casamajestatiisale.ro.
