International Symposium of Beekeeping Products – 6th edition and annual meeting of the International Honey Commission (IHC), 22-25 April 2024, at USAMV Cluj-Napoca

Our University is hosting, through the Faculty of Animal Sciences and Biotechnology, from 22-25 April 2024, the International Symposium of Beekeeping Products – 6th edition, as well as the annual meeting of the International Honey Commission (IHC).

The events that will take place in the amphitheatres of the Institute of Life Sciences are held under the aegis of APIMONDIA and will bring together specialists in the field of beekeeping and the quality of bee products, an extremely topical issue both nationally and internationally.

Specialists from over 20 countries around the world will attend and address various topical issues in the field during this four-day conference, including European legislation, quality and authenticity, but also another extremely important issue: criteria for standardising the quality of bee products worldwide.

The International Honey Commission (IHC) was established over 20 years ago and has developed internationally accredited and used quality methods and criteria for honey.

The Laboratory for Quality Control of Bee Products and Diagnosis of Bee Diseases at USAMV Cluj-Napoca, the only RENAR-accredited and university-affiliated laboratory in the country, employs these methods in its analyses. It is also notable that specialists in beekeeping and bee products from our university are members of the IHC Commission since 2007.
