“Plant Fascination Day”, celebrated at USAMV Cluj-Napoca on 18 May 2024

The seventh international “Fascination of Plants Day” (FoPD 2024) has been launched by researchers from all over the world under the aegis of the European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO), and the event will take place on 18 May 2024 at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca, which is also the EPSO Coordinator – Romania.

“The aim of this activity is to get as many people around the world as possible fascinated by plants and excited about the importance of plant science for horticulture, agriculture and sustainable production of nutritious food, as well as for forestry and the production of non-food plant-based products such as paper, wood, chemicals, energy and pharmaceuticals. The role of plants in environmental conservation is also the key message of this year’s event,” said Prof. Mirela Cordea (Faculty of Horticulture and Rural Development Affairs) – EPSO National Coordinator for Romania.

“Fascination of Plants Day” is celebrated around the world with a series of events in more than 60 countries in public areas, universities, botanical gardens, research institutes, theatres, public squares and parks to inform and raise awareness of the respect and admiration for the world of plants.
