IAHAIO International Conference “The power of human-animal interactions in times of crisis”, at USAMV Cluj-Napoca

The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca is hosting, on 7-8 September 2024, through the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Biotechnologies, the annual international conference of the International Association of Human-Animal Interaction Organizations (IAHAIO) – “The power of human-animal interactions in times of crisis”.

This global event is being organized for the first time in Romania and in the Central and Eastern European region, and our university is hosting it in partnership with IAHAIO. The meeting will be attended by specialists in the field of animal-assisted interventions (education, research and practice), and the members of the IAHAIO Guidance Committee will be joined by Prof. Dr. Dennis Turner (former president of the forum and international expert in the study of human-animal interactions), awarded in 2023 with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of USAMV Cluj-Napoca.

The topic of the event is focused on exploring how animals can play a crucial role in improving human psycho-social and physiological health, taking into account the ethical principles and standards recommended by IAHAIO, regarding their health and well-being.

Volunteer students of the “Ethology & Human-Animal Interaction” English language programs and the organizing team from our faculty will be joined by such partners as non-profit associations and organizations in the field of animal protection and responsible human-animal interactions in the designated areas at USAMV Cluj-Napoca
