Spay Day – the free sterilization marathon for dogs and cats, organized by USAMV Cluj-Napoca, on July 5

The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca, through the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, organizes the annual Spay Day – Free Spay Day for Dogs and Cats Marathon, on July 5, 2024.
Starting at 8.30 a.m., teachers and graduates will take care of the cases registered for sterilizations in our faculty clinics. The annual community campaign run by USAMV Cluj-Napoca in this format since 2018 is primarily intended for pet owners with limited financial possibilities, but also for stray animals.
“Sterilization of pets is the most effective and humane measure to control the population of dogs and cats by excluding the possibility of unwanted offspring and, implicitly, reducing the number of abandoned animals. This medical procedure also brings other important benefits, such as: reducing or eliminating the incidence of some genital tract pathologies, a significant improvement in these animals’ quality of life, changes in their aggressive behaviour, reduction of the number of animals that need to be euthanized or the overall positive impact on the community”, explained Conf. Dr. Cosmin Peștean, coordinator of the annual community campaign.
About 80 graduates of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, from the three teaching lines: Romanian, English and French, will be involved in the Sterilization Marathon. They will be joined by teachers, doctors and veterinary technicians from all departments, from reception to the operating rooms. Since its first edition, the community campaign has been supported by Maravet, with the necessary materials and consumables.
