A premiere in Cluj-Napoca, on April 7, International Beaver Day: the screening of the documentary “The Architects of Nature”, in the Aula Magna “Mihai Șerban”

International Beaver Day – April 7 – is marked at our university with a premiere dedicated to students and the entire Cluj community: the screening of the documentary “Nature’s Architects”. The film directed by Dan Dinu tells the story of the reintroduction of beavers and bison in the Făgăraș Mountains, through the efforts of the Carpathia Conservation Foundation.

“Nature’s Architects” is a compelling story about efforts to restore the area’s natural balance and the positive environmental impact these species have.

The director Dan Dinu, who has been the guest of USAMV Cluj-Napoca, is known for the successful film “Wild Romania”, and the new documentary is made together with the team of NTD Film and the team of the Carpathia Conservation Foundation, within the project “Creating a wild nature area in the southern Carpathian Mountains, Romania”, funded by the European Commission through the LIFE Program.

The screening of the documentary “Nature’s Architects” is mainly addressed to our students, who will have the opportunity to interact with the representatives of the Conservation Carpathia Foundation – Ruben Iosif, Adrian Aldea and Victoria Donos, and the event is free of charge.

Ruben Iosif holds a PhD in Biology and is the coordinator of the wildlife monitoring department of the Conservation Carpathia Foundation. His main research focuses on the population dynamics of bear, wolf, lynx and deer, as well as the interaction between local communities and these species.

Adrian Aldea is a biologist and manager of the wildlife department of the Conservation Carpathia Foundation. He has over 20 years of experience in environmental protection. A graduate of the Faculty of Ecology and Environmental Protection and of the Faculty of Wildlife Management, he coordinates the beaver and ibex reintroduction program in the southern Făgăraș Mountains.

For her part, Victoria Donos, the foundation’s communications director, is on a mission to bring people closer to conservation, to better understand biodiversity and its role for nature and people.

The event will take place on April 7, 2025, at 19.00, in the Aula Magna “Mihai Șerban”, and along with our students and teachers, representatives of interested NGOs and wildlife enthusiasts from Cluj-Napoca are also enthusiastically expected. After the screening of the documentary, which lasts 60 minutes, there will be a Q&A session with our guests, so you have the opportunity to take advantage of this premiere in Cluj-Napoca, organized on the International Beaver Day! The event is coordinated on behalf of USAMV Cluj-Napoca by Dr. Gianluca D’Amico, Lecturer of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
