USAMV Cluj-Napoca in Times Higher Education (THE) – World University Rankings 2025

In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025, our University is ranked 1.201-1.500, and in the hierarchy by Fields, USAMV Cluj-Napoca is ranked 601-800 – Life Sciences.

Recognized as the world’s most comprehensive assessment of university performance, the latest WUR 3.0 methodology includes 18 carefully calibrated indicators to assess institutions in five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement and international outlook, detailed in the image below.

The scores obtained by our university in 2025 in the five areas are:

Teaching (learning environment) = 18.4 (↓);

Research environment (volume, revenues and reputation) = 9.5 (↑);

Research quality (citation impact, research quality, research excellence and research influence) = 55.3 (↑);

Impact on industry (revenues, patents) = 22.5 (↓).

International perspectives (staff, students, research) = 40.8 (↑);

In total, 25 universities in Romania appear in the ranking, but only ten – including USAMV Cluj-Napoca – were included in the top 1,500.

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025 includes 2,092 ranked universities from 115 countries. There are 185 new entries compared to last year. Oxford holds on to the top spot for the ninth year in a row, MIT climbs to second place, overtaking Stanford, which drops to sixth. China moves closer to the top 10, further increasing its influence in global research. Australia’s top five universities have all dropped in the rankings, due to declining reputation and international outlook. Three new countries join the top 200: Brazil, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – highlighting the growth of emerging markets in higher education.
