Academia Digital Agri Challenge, a successful event dedicated to students, has designated the winning teams in the final hosted by USAMV Cluj-Napoca. Total prizes of 4.500 euro

The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca hosted the second edition of the Digital Agri Challenge Academy – the final stage of the Digital AgriChallenge, an innovative concept dedicated to students from universities and faculties in Romania. The competition organized by Agrovir, in partnership with the Faculty of Horticulture and Business in Rural Development, was attended by 29 student teams from higher education institutions in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Galati, Iasi and Timisoara. Total prizes amounted to €4,500.

In the first stage, for three weeks, teams of students participated in a simulated environment and made complex management and strategic decisions on a digital farm, based on data received through the AgroVIR software (https://www.agrovir.com/RO/), in a competition that decided the six finalists.

At the Academy, the finalist teams benefited from applied mentoring, presentation trainings, networking sessions and practical challenges, all with the aim of solving a final project with real stakes. Students also had the opportunity to meet some of the most important leaders and experts in the Romanian agricultural sector or to participate in a Career Kick Start to find their dream job.

          On May 26-27, at the Biodiversity Research Center on the campus of USAMV Cluj-Napoca, the finals took place, and after the jury deliberation, the winning teams were:

  • First Prize, rewarded with 2.500 euro – the AgroLead Timisoara team from USV “Regele Mihai I”, Faculty of Management and Rural Tourism, composed of students Andrei Rusu, Alexia Palfi, Lorena Lupei, Dragoș Lula;
  • Second Prize, 1.200 euro – LettuceWin team, from USAMV Cluj-Napoca, Faculty of Horticulture and Business in Rural Development- Adina Șaitiș, Orsi Bereczki, Izolda Karsai;
  • Third Prize, 800 euro – SmartAgro team from USAMV Bucharest, Faculty of Agriculture: Daniel Stanciu, Maria Obada, Andra Popovici, Ionuț Dinu.

Other teams qualified for the final six: Agricultura București – USAMV București, Faculty of Agriculture: Bogdan Alexandroaia, Daciana Dediu, Dorinel Mot, Ciprian Teselea; AgroMind – USAMV București, Faculty of Management and Rural Development: Darius Sandu, Ion Toader, Cristian Catalina, Georgiana Chivu; NextFarmVision – USV “Ion Ionescu de la Brad” Iași, Faculty of Agriculture: Raluca Bradu, Marta Azoiței, Marinela Agraviloae, Emanuel Mascan. All finalists were also rewarded with special prizes from partner companies.
