The people of Cluj are invited, for the first time, to the Exhibition of grape varieties from the USAMV Cluj-Napoca collection. Over 50 varieties will be presented, including those grown by the university itself and by other growers in Transylvania.
The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca invites viticulture enthusiasts to an event organised for the first time by the Faculty of Horticulture and Rural Development Business: an exhibition of grape varieties from its own collection.
The event, which is free to attend, will take place on 5 September 2025, between 11:00 and 17:00, at the Biodiversity Research Centre. Growers from Transylvania, including graduates of our faculty, have also been invited.
There will be presentations of over 50 table and wine grape varieties from the Didactic Collection of the Viticulture Discipline within the faculty, as well as from invited growers from Boju (Cluj County) and Târnăveni (Mureș County). Participants who are passionate about viticulture are also encouraged to ask questions and participate in the tastings organised as part of the event, which is part of a wider range of courses and meetings held this year for the Cluj community.
Among the varieties that will be presented at the exhibition are Cardinal, Victoria, Paula, Augusta, Gelu, Muscat Perla de Csaba, Perla de Zala, Corinth, Arkadia, Preobrazhenie, Landysh, Cotton Candy, Gold Finger, Talisman, Prezentabil, Veles, Muscat Bleu, Zieger, Pamiati, Ucitelia, Early, Gourmet, Joy Seedless, Heliodor Seedless, etc., along with table grape varieties obtained at the university’s Horticultural Research Station, when it was called the Palocsay Station: Napoca, Timpuriu de Cluj, and Someșan.
Grape varieties from the Vinea Apoldia Maior Station used for wines in the USAMV Cluj-Napoca collections are produced in Apoldu de Sus (Sibiu County) and will also be presented to the public.
