The project “Awareness and responsible collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and waste portable batteries and accumulators (WBA)” was launched at USAMV Cluj-Napoca. Waste collection containers will be placed on campus
On 4 November 2025, the “Regina Maria” Amphitheatre at the Institute of Life Sciences hosted the launch event for the project “Awareness and responsible collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and waste portable batteries and accumulators (WBA)”, an initiative of Lions Club Transylvania Association, in collaboration with the ECOTIC Association and our university.
The project aims to raise awareness of the importance of selective collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and waste portable batteries and accumulators (WBA), but also to develop the waste collection infrastructure on the USAMV Cluj-Napoca campus by placing dedicated containers near the main buildings, dormitories and areas frequented daily by students and staff.
The launch event was attended by members of Lions Club Transylvania, the regional manager of the ECOTIC Association, teaching staff and representatives of the Faculty of Agriculture, along with researchers and students from USAMV Cluj-Napoca.
After placing the collection containers on campus, we urge you to bring your waste batteries, accumulators, electrical and electronic equipment so that we can all contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future. Congratulations and good luck to those responsible for the project: Prof. Dr. Marian Proorocu and Dr. Mihai Tătar – Lions Club Transilvania; Radu Miheșan – ECOTIC area manager and Lecturer Phd. Anamaria Mălinaș – USAMV Cluj-Napoca.
