Inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of the Kingdom of Belgium on the USAMV Cluj-Napoca campus
Our university was honoured to host, on 16 March 2026, the inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of the Kingdom of Belgium, which is based right on campus, at the Institute of Life Sciences.
In the presence of the university’s management, representatives of local authorities, members of the Belgian community and guests, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Jean Cornet d’Elzius, highlighted the significance of strengthening bilateral relations:
“In the context of our cooperation, the establishment of an Honorary Consulate reflects the growing importance of the city of Cluj-Napoca and the region, which has become a hub for technological and entrepreneurial development at European level. Cluj is also a major focus for Belgian investment.”
Upon taking up her duties as Honorary Consul, Alina Pop stated:
“It is a great honour to represent the Kingdom of Belgium in Cluj-Napoca. I intend to contribute to the development of relations between Belgium and the Transylvania region by supporting the Belgian community and encouraging cooperation in the fields of business, education and innovation, in the spirit of shared European values.”
