Mărțișoare for Animals, 5th edition, 28 February – 1 March
The “Mărțișoare for Animals” event is held every spring at the Zoological Museum of Babeș-Bolyai University, continuing the tradition established by the indoor editions of the UBB–USAMV Cluj-Napoca Human-Animal Interaction Day (#ZIOA).
The fifth edition will take place between 28 February and 1 March 2026, from 10:00 to 14:30, at the Babeș-Bolyai University Zoological Museum (5–7 Clinicilor Street). This outreach to the community aims to promote optimal knowledge and attitudes towards animals, as well as to raise awareness of partner associations and organisations in the field of responsible human-animal interactions.
Over the course of the two days, visitors will have free access to the spacious Zoological Museum, where, in addition to the existing exhibits, they will be able to visit information stands, workshops and small stalls selling mărțișoare and other handmade items, run by organisations working in the fields of animal protection and positive human-animal interaction.
For the first time, this edition includes two interactive lectures for the public, to be held in the Zoology Amphitheatre of the Faculty of Biology and Geology at UBB. The first lecture will take place on 28 February (13:00–14:00) and will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Andrei Daniel Mihalca (USAMV Cluj-Napoca), focusing on veterinary research projects in Africa.
The second lecture will be delivered on 1 March (13:00–14:00) by Dr Cristian Sitar (UBB Zoological Museum), on the topic of ‘Exploring insect biodiversity in French Guyana’.
Event coordinator on behalf of USAMV Cluj-Napoca: Prof. Dr. Alina Rusu (Faculty of Animal Science and Biotechnology).
