Science and technology on your plate at USAMV Cluj-Napoca: Smart packaging, high-protein foods and functional sweets at the 13th edition of the Food Festival
The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca is organising the 13th edition of the Food Festival on Friday, 22 May 2026. Having already become a leading regional and national event dedicated to food-tech innovation, the festival showcases the creativity and research skills of final-year students at the Faculty of Food Science and Technology – the specialisations in Food Product Control and Expertise (CEPA), Food Product Engineering (IPA) and Agricultural Product Processing Technology (TPPA).
This year, the faculty’s laboratories and pilot stations have become veritable technology incubators, generating 41 revolutionary food products, developed as an integral part of students’ final-year projects. Some of these innovative products were developed in direct partnership with the business sector,
The projects are visionarily grouped into three main competition sections: Meat products and preparations / Dairy products (Section 1), Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (Section 2) and Bakery, pastry and confectionery products (Section 3).
Judging will take place from 08.00, in the order of the sections, and the award ceremonies will be held successively throughout the programme, recognising the most promising talents among the new generation of food engineers.
The Faculty of Food Science and Technology at USAMV Cluj-Napoca is a centre of excellence in education and research, training specialists capable of addressing global challenges relating to food safety, sustainability and technological innovation.
