Workshop and beauty contest for horses, ponies and donkeys, an event aimed at school pupils, university students and the general public, at USAMV Cluj-Napoca

The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca announces that, through the Faculty of Animal Science and Biotechnology, on 9 May 2026, from 10.00 am, an event dedicated to equines, which will include presentations by invited specialists, as well as a unique beauty contest for horses, ponies and donkeys.

Participants will be shown around 15 equines of the Friesian, Romanian Semi-Heavy, Hungarian Cold-Blooded, Ardennes and Lipizzaner breeds, alongside four ponies and donkeys.

Judging will be carried out by specialists in the field, who will assess the horses in terms of phenotype, conformation and body structure, whilst they are led by hand and moving at a walk and a trot. The presentations will take place near the ‘Mihai Șerban’ Aula Magna, with the light breeds and ponies on the lawn in front of the building, and the heavy breeds on the lawn behind it.

The event will be attended by teaching staff and students from several faculties at USAMV Cluj-Napoca, as well as over 100 pupils from three technical secondary schools: the “Ioan Ossian” Secondary School in Șimleul Silvaniei, the Agricultural Technical Secondary School in Bistrița and the Technical Secondary School in Tarna Mare.
