The Educational Experimental Station

UASVM Cluj-Napoca comprises 5 practice facilities for teaching and student practice purposes, within the Experimental Teaching Station, located in: Jucu (vegetable farm), Cojocna (vegetable and animal farm), Hoia (animal farm), Apoldia Maior (wine growing area) and Horticultural Research Station. Within these farms students can perform activities as part of specific practical classes and production practical activity, both initiatory and for specific expertise. The total surface is of about 1.000 hectares, where both agricultural and technical plants are grown. There are over 25 hectares of experimental fields at Jucu station which function alongside the demonstrative lots from Cojocna. UASVM Cluj-Napoca is constantly concerned with breeding its livestock and also increasing the agricultural production, by choosing the most profitable crops and technologies. The botanical garden was expanded and turned into an agro-botanical park, covering literally all of the university’s campus and incorporating the central park, the orchard, the vineyard and the forest, all being reorganized under a new concept and made available for the entire community. Additionally, at UASVM Cluj-Napoca there is Transylvania’s largest aquarium, with a diverse collection of fish, also provided as teaching material to the under-graduate level teachers.

UASVM Cluj-Napoca comprises the student Experimental Teaching Station, located in:

  • Jucu station with 1227.22 ha covered with experimental fields in the administrative range of Bontida, Jucu and Apahida;
  • Cojocna farm for applied research on the 671.8 ha. The Cojocna exploitation holds significant cattle, swine, sheep livestock and poultry.
  • Horticultural Research Station (SCH) became managed by UASVM Cluj-napoca through HG 881/2015 over a 164.25 ha area;
  • Şapca verde Floresti farm covers 18 ha, where research projects in the field of swine and horses are applied;
  • Hoia farm comprising covers an area of 92.23 ha. 35 ha are covered by an ongoing funded project amounting to 30 million lei to modernize the existing infrastructure.

The total surface is of about 2,000 hectares,as well as 30 ha of forest land.
