Mission

According to Charter provisions, The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Cluj-Napoca (UASMV Cluj-Napoca) professes its mission towards advanced scientific research and education. In order to accomplish this mission, the university is involved in generating knowledge by means of scientific research, development, innovation and technology transfer and university professional education.

UASVM Cluj-Napoca, according to the Rector’s strategic plan for 2020-2024, aims at the following objectives:

  • promoting excellence in the fields of education, research and innovation through initial graduate and postgraduate university education, through lifelong learning and integration in the universal values circle, according to the expectations of a knowledge based society;
  • ensuring basic academic formation, by means of graduate diploma obtained upon completion of studies, for high qualification specialists in the fundamental domains: agronomy, horticulture, forestry, animal science, veterinary medicine, biotechnologies, biology, food product engineering, environment engineering, engineering and management, chemical engineering and geodesic engineering;
  • defining its active part in lifelong learning and in the professional reconversion of the working force, by means of the master studies, as well as PhD, postgraduate and post doctorate studies and continuous formation of specialists, as well as members of its teaching staff;
  • functioning is a such a manner as to answer the market economy demands, its entire activity being based on the management and financial efficiency principle and insuring the highest quality standards available;
  • militating for permanent improvement of the educational process by continuously adjusting its specialized educational offer, by revisiting the educational plans and lecture curricula, according to national and international standards and perspectives in the targeted domains;
  • contributing to local, regional, national and European development, from a social, economic and cultural standpoint, an aim reflected in the quality of the educational act, in constant social dialogue and adaptation to real societal needs.

The University constantly improves its student-centered educational environment. Students are stimulated to assimilate a set of know-how, competences, as well as professional and civic skills, which allow them to proficiently and responsibly act within the free democratic state under the rule of law, by applying the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), according to MEC Order no 3617/ 2005. UASVM students acquire their abilities and practical skills, by getting involved in applied and fundamental scientific research. The ECTS user guide is part of the Students’ professional activity regulation RU 40.

The professional standards which lay at the basis of the university curricula are adapted according to national and European values of the field. As such, they reflect the present level of our academic community, as well as its development trends.

The university’s entire educational activity, its intra and extra-institutional realations bear witness of its promotion of fundamental human rights and liberties, the respect and tolerance towards different opinions, ideologies and religions, the respect for every living being and for the environment. Its teaching staff selection, promotion and training policies reveal that the university provides the human resource necessary for professional training at both graduate and postgraduate level, as well as civic and professional behavioural models.

Throughout the university’s entire comprehensive development period, it has also assumed its role as an excellence centre in academic research and education, in cultural and technology transfer in its specific fields, for the central and south–eastern European region.

In order to accomplish its mission, the University has the following major strategic objectives:

  1. Continuous adaptation of educational offer to existing requirements on the labour market, according to the National Framework of Qualifications;
  2. Enhancement of scientific research capabilities, according to the priorities and defined strategies at national level, as well as those required by the accession to the European Research Area;
  3. Development of entrepreneurship management;
  4. Providing inscentives for personal or joint initiatives that would attract the financing required for institutional development, including adequate additional salary inscentives; support for sustainable priority projects;
  5. Improved correlation of teaching, research, innovation and services for the community;
  6. Promotion of inner and outer institutional cooperation by cultivating constructive academic relationships within the institution and through dialogue between its partners;
  7. Promotion of participatory management that would forge fidelity in members of the academic community;
  8. Implementing an advanced system for quality assurance and internal auditing that would allow for a consolidation of performance not only in teaching and research, but also management;
  9. Optimizing the employment of the teachingand research infrastructure available for ownership and use to all members of the academic community;

Extending and diversifying institutional international relations through academic cooperation programs.
