Sports facility

The sports facilities was renovated in 2017. There is a gym (with an area of ​​359 square meters) and two courts for sports competitions (one for minifootball and one for tennis).The UASVM Cluj-Napoca sports facility includes the following establishments and buildings: Outdoor facilities – a mini-football field (artificial grass) measuring 50 x 25 meters and a tennis field (artificial grass) measuring 30 x 14 meters; Indoor facilities – a two level gym, with a surface of 359 meters, which includes the sporting games room measuring 25 x 12 meters, locker-rooms and annexes.

Students can benefit from a gym, an equipped fitness room, locker-rooms and showers. The outdoors tennis field can be also used during the night.

Both students and teachers can benefit from specialized physical education teachers during the training sessions conducted in the gym. There is also a pre-set time interval in which, without interfering with the teaching activities, the other employees of the university can also use the gym. For other time intervals, when the gym is available, it can be rented by third parties. Football championships between the student and teacher teams are organized during the school year. Furthermore, during the “Agronomiada”, the University also participates in sporting competitions.

The Information Technology Centre

The Information Technogy Centre (ITC) ensures the mechanisms for implementing and developing ICT technologies in UASVM Cluj-Napoca, in order to increase management efficiency for the academic process:

The UASVMNet network currently displays the following characteristics: More than 6 km of fibre optic cables that interconnect campus buildings and dorms to the internet, with a speed of 1GBps; Over 60 CISCO management switches, which distribute user access to the network, internet and other IT resources; 4 high capacity servers for the following applications: INTRANET, EMSYS (accounting/financial/human resources), WEB hosting and the DIDFR e-learning platform.

Partnerships:

  • Academic partnership with GOOGLE in order to benefit from a free hi-tech email and online collaboration platform.
  • Academic partnership with Microsoft, who provide low priced licenses and free upgrades for: Microsoft Windows XP, 7, 8, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows Servers.
  • BitDefender parnership

The UASVM Cluj-Napoca computer network includes 620 PCs and 8 informatics student laboratories. \over 1.200 students have extended access to the communication system through internet and intranet (fiber optic cable) in the dorms. The Information Technology Centre functions according to an in-house regulation (RU 30). As such, the whole IT infrastructure of the university is managed by this centre.

The library

In order to increase the quality of the training and education process, as well as to contribute to overall student development, UASVM Cluj-Napoca offers a Central Library (RU 31). The first mention of the library’s funds is in 1872, when the Yearbook of the Institute records the existence of 881 volumes.

The building has significant study and relaxation areas, depositories for books and periodicals, offices for library staff. They are located on 6 levels of over 5,000 square meters, providing services to the highest standards for the 5000 users.

 The USAMV library has a depository fund consisting of books, courses, magazines, newspapers, and DVDs of over 170000 volumes that are managed with an integrated library automation system “Liberty 3”,Accessible databases: ScienceDirect, Springerlink, PROQUEST, Central Web of Science.

Career counseling and orientation for students

The Centre for Career Counselin and Orientation (COCC) is part of the UASVM structure and functions according to its own regulations (RU 19).  Its mission is to counsel and guide students and graduates in order to efficiently integrate the labour market, as well as to develop their abilities for career planning.  The COCC page can be found on the university site: http://www.usamvcluj.ro/index.php/descriere-centru. CCOC activity involves:

  1. information, guidance and counseling of students by offering the following services: educational and vocational counseling; counseling and psychological assessment; career counseling; developing materials for information, guidance and counseling;
  2. Actions related to increasing the degree of sudent and graduate insertion into the labor market by offering services such as: training sessions on the employment portfolio, simulation of the interview; organization of company presentations; training sessions for the development of students’ transversal skills.

The Career Counselin and Orientation Center has been accredited by the Cluj Employment Agency to provide information and counseling services  under the law.
